Mikayla Barnwell is returning for her second year as a teaching staff member but was once also a student in the program. Mikayla studied marine biology at Coastal Carolina University before moving to Roger Williams University to complete her BS in marine biology with a minor in mathematics.  She now attends University of Hawaii Hilo pursuing her masters degree in Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science.  She has traveled extensively to work in marine science including organizing a Lionfish derbyin St. Croix, volunteering at a hatchery in the Dominican Republic, as a coral reef research intern at the Roatan Institute of Marine Science and spending a semester at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Science.  Mikayla has also taught in several different programs in marine science.  She's PADI certified and looking forward to getting back into the cold Gulf of Maine.  We're looking forward to working with Mikayla again!
